"Thanks for doing this, Jacque," said Ganesh, handing an already excitedly squirming Elias over to his grandfather.

"Ah, spending some quality time with your Papa! We'll turn Sen Michel into a hearty motherfucking Ogoun!" Jacque said proudly.

"Just, if you could make sure he doesn't experience great bodily injury, Jacque?" Sariel sighed.

"I'd worry that the palace is still standing when they're done with it," Raziel grinned. She had just appeared, breathless, holding Abby.

"Ah, so you're bringing your girlfriend along! Sly little devil, ain't ya?" Jacque inquired of Elias.

"She's not his girlfriend!" Sariel insisted.

"We'll give you two some private time!" Jacque insisted.

"Are you guys ready?" Raziel asked.

Sariel sighed deeply. "Tell me again why you're dragging me on some kind of fashion bullshit?"

"The Renaissance angels hipped me to this guy. He does suits with wing holes!"

"I shall not let him go out in public looking like a strip club dancer!" Ganesh insisted. "That particular look is reserved strictly for our bedroom," he noted, emphasizing this with a pat to Sariel's rump.

"You know, you're harassing me," Sariel protested.

"Yes. And you enjoy it."

"Well, true. We'll be back SOON, Papa!"

"Or not!" called Raziel, grabbing the, both by the collar and disappearing them all.

Jacque set the chikdren in a playpen out on a seaside balcony.

"We've got you two in the honeymoon suite, with a view of the sea. How about that?"

The babies looked up and burbled appealingly.

"Oh, I gotta grab a camera. Your Ma wanted me to document every motherfucking moment!" He stepped inside.

"Wablah?" urged Elias. It sounded oddly like a question. Of course, it could not have been.

"Blahglah!" Abby responded.

Jacque was back out on the balcony, peering through a viewfinder. "All right, you two little cocksuckers! Smile for...."

He looked up.

"Uh-oh," he said.

"I just don't know if a designer will take, 'Well, that doesn't suck TOO bad!' as a compliment, Sariel!" Raziel said, appearing on Jacque's balcony.

"Well, it didn't suck. And I think you broke my rib with your elbow," Sariel groused, appearing beside her.

Jacque was seated overlooking the sea, merrily smoking a cigar. "Hey! We've been having a great motherfucking time!" he told them.

"We?" asked Sariel, suddenly alarmed. "Jacque, where's my fucking kid?"

Jacque grinned. He reached over and tugged on a string that was tied to one end around his chair. Quite suddenly, a squealing Elias fluttered down and landed in his lap. He tugged the other string, and Abby followed. "You two not tired out yet?" Jacque laughed as two very hyper babies bounced in his lap.

"YOU LET THEM FLY OFF A CLIFF?" Sariel demanded.

"They like catching the updrafts!"

"IT'S A CLIFF, JACQUE!"

"I got 'em tethered." Jacque said, tugging on a string.

"That's incredible!" Ganesh said, seizing Elias and hefting him experimentally. "Their wings are still quite small, so they evidently figured out how to modulate their weight." He let go of Elias, and the boy expertly hovered, madly fluttering his little wings like an oversized hummingbird.

Raziel looked over the balcony, at the sheer cliff falling down to the crashing surf below. "Hey, can I bring Liam? Might get the lazy kid to bring out his wings!"

Jacque went over to stand by her. "We could try tossin' him off and see!"

"Raziel! What if Liam doesn't have a winged Form?" Sariel asked.

"He'd probably cause some damage impacting the rocks below," Gamesh explained. "Angels are possessed of rather dense craniums," he said, rapping with his knuckles on Sariel's head to illustrate the point.

"OK. Tell me you guys are all joking?" Sariel grumbled.

"Sort of," Raziel laughed. "I might give it a try," she said, tossing off her coat. "It looks fun." She sprouted small dark wings and jumped off the balustrade, the babies squealing and diving after her.

Sariel stared for a time at mad Raziel and the strange winged babies. He turned. Ganesh had one hand extended. "What?" he asked.

"So you can hand me your jacket and shirt," Ganesh told him.

Sariel started to object. "I'm just going to make sure they don't kill themselves!" he finally said, handing off his jacket.

Ganesh smiled and took his shirt and tie.

"Want some rum, boy?" asked Jacque, as they watched Sariel pitch over the balustrade. Ganesh nodded. "How about a cigar?"

"Well, I don't usually, but when in Rome," Ganesh smiled.

Jacque pulled up another chair, and the two men sat back companionably on the sunny seaside balcony and spent a pleasant late afternoon watching angels fly.
